The One Hundred Foot Journey
I was searching for movies to watch while on my Bainbridge Island vacation and up popped a trailer for a new film, The One Hundred Foot Journey. I previewed the trailer and then quickly decided that I would love it and decided to read the book first. Thank you Amazon, three minutes later I was comfortably seated and began the journey.
The One Hundred Foot Journey is fabulous, funny, sad, and totally inspirational. My favorite parts of the book are the insanely vivid descriptions of food. Every oyster mentioned I was there, smelling the ocean and just anticipating the perfectly briny gooey sweetness. I smelled each spice in the Indian Masalas and was slurping the sauce with my naan. Coming from a hospitality and restaurant background I delighted in the descriptions on service, table settings, staff training and diner's reactions.
I am so inspired by this book that I announced to my husband that I would like to open my own "Hotel Particulaire." He groaned. I explained that we didn't have to do it now but that it would be a project that would fill me with great joy. Treating guests to a truly wonderful experience consisting of amazing lodging and divine food is my next big project.
I urge everybody to take their One Hundred Foot Journey.
Amazing things are around us and are much closer than we think.
Hugs
