The Season of Letting Go

Each passing season, nature gently signals to us the growth and changes that need to occur in our own lives. In the spring, we experience rebirth. In the summer, we enjoy abundance. And in the autumn, we let go. One way or another, each person lets go of something different. It’s the time of year to let go of the things that hold us back or that no longer serve us. It can be hard to let go and to move on, but part of our lesson in this season, is how to surrender to change gracefully, knowing that the best is yet to come.

If letting go is hard for you, you’re not alone, but it’s important to keep in mind that your resistance to change can be soothed with a change in mindset. Just as trees are regularly pruned, you cannot experience growth - be it mentally, spiritually, emotionally - without some cutting back. To pinpoint what exactly can be pruned in your own life, meditation and self-reflection is key.

First, ask yourself what you want. What does your ideal life look like? What growth needs to be completed in order to get there? What heavy weight needs to be eliminated to achieve this new growth? Which of your qualities should you embrace to achieve this ideal life? What actions can you take to get there? How can you begin your journey towards this life today?

When letting go feels challenging, remember that it is all part of the process. Just as the spring and summer follow fall and winter, rebirth and abundance will come once you just let go.
