Never Stop Learning

"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." - Henry Ford

It appears Mr. Ford could not only build cars, but new a thing or two about brain health... not from study, but from observation. Ford stated, and rightly so, that a number doesn't determine age, a willingness and interest in learning does.

For those of us not returning to school this year, it's more important than ever to take an active role in education, in learning, in being curious. We don't need a classroom or a syllabus or the promise of a diploma to stay hungry for knowledge. Each and every day, we must make a conscious decision to continue our education, for this is how we maintain our youth.

One of the most notable things about children, not just school age children, but even younger, is their insatiable curiosity. We've all been around that child who asks "why?" about any and everything. We can learn a valuable lesson from these children - always push for a better answer, never be content with the baseline. If you find something that piques your curiosity, it's a sign to keep going and learn more.

So where can we learn new things? Everywhere. It all comes down to being present. When you're present, you can fully engage with what is around you. You can learn new things (or find new things to be curious about) in books, in conversations, sometimes just walking down the street. When you find something that sparks your interest, lean in. Read everything you can about it, talk about it, be excited about it, poke around, ask around... see where it takes you. This curiosity, this energy, this passion, is at the core of what it means to be youthful.
