Send a Gratitude Note

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” - William Arthur Ward

When was the last time you sat down, pen to paper, and wrote a thank you note? Not a thank you note for a gift, but for something intangible - a note that expresses gratitude for the way in which someone has enhanced your life for the better?

So many of us are guilty of going through life quietly grateful for the things that people do for us, but we don’t always express it well. Would we appreciate these little things more if we were to sit down and write about it? If we were asked to view these moments of gratitude in the larger context of our lives? If we were asked to truly explain to that person why we are grateful for them, and what they do? Would that then give those little acts of kindness, support, love, whatever it might be, the gravitas that it deserves?

We want to challenge our tribe of BuDhaGirls to write a “gratitude note” this week to someone who influences your life in a subtle, yet powerful way. Write a thank you to that friend who always checks in to say “hi”. Write a thank you to the coworker who makes you laugh. Write a thank you to your spouse for going out of their way to help you. Write a thank you to your child for teaching you something.

By expressing our gratitude in a clear, meaningful and direct way, perhaps we can infuse our family, our group of friends, our offices, or our communities with a little more love, respect and appreciation. Will you join us?
