Discovering Purpose

“God hasn’t called me to be successful. He’s called me to be faithful.” - Mother Teresa

Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I here?” If so, what do you answer?

For many of us, no matter how old we are, what we’ve been through, or what we’ve learned, this is a recurring question. We all want to feel a purpose, a reason for our lives. We want to be useful, we want to contribute, we want to be agents of change.

So when do we each discover our purpose? It depends. Often, we discover our purpose after a soul-shaking, life-changing moment. Other times, our purpose reveals itself when we follow a unique passion. Occasionally, we even have to be forced to recognize our purpose after years of denying it.

In all of these cases, the most important common denominators are self-reflection and intuition. If something lights a fire in you, odds are… your passion will illuminate your purpose.

For those who are either searching for their purpose or who are actively pursuing it, our advice is simple. First, giving up is not an option. When challenges arrive, which they will, you must keep going. Remember, it’s better to crawl than it is to sit. Secondly, don’t compare your journey of discovery to anyone else’s. Everyone walks a different path. What fulfills you might not be of interest to someone else. Only you can know your purpose. Only you can know what a life well-lived looks like.

We want to hear your experience, BuDhaGirls! How did you discover your purpose? What intentions do you set daily to stay true to that purpose? Tell us in the comments below!
