Start With Your Hands

“The place to improve the world is first is one’s own heart and head and hands, and then work outward from there.” – Robert M. Pirsig

I have a deep admiration for people that do. Doers are realists that make dreams come true.

They do not sit around talking and exercising their wishbone, they get up every day and do.

I am often amazed at what I call “perfection paralysis,” this condition causes people to not do anything because they are so afraid of not getting it right, and by right, I mean “perfect.” Even when in their heart and head they want to do good, they don’t because they think that they simply can’t make a difference in the grand scale of things and might not get it right.

WRONG.

It is absolutely through the daily improvement of our hearts by being grateful, kind, compassionate, tolerant, loving and our heads by: studying, reflecting, praying, inventing, making connections that we can then translate these into action. Into working and being of service. Into improving our lives, our families, communities, our world and the universe (I think big).

So, don’t be paralyzed by over-thinking and being afraid to fail. Take a chance. MOVE. Move internally, move your spirit to do great things…and even if you fail at your enterprise and the world simply is not ready for you or doesn’t get it, you still will have improved yourself, because dear friends, that is all where it starts.
