Galentine's Day

@wanderforawhile

Why did it ever take so long to come up with Galentine’s Day? Maybe I was just the last to know…

I think it is great!!! I mean let’s face it, I do think the scales tip towards the feminine when it comes to the importance of the “V” (Valentine’s). Mostly through observation I have seen the flowers and chocolates, jewelry, and other niceties pretty much going one way, from the man to the woman.

Clearly, we are now living in different times, so as with everything in life, things change. So, gals get ready to give, give, give, and to receive. Celebrate the feminine. From the feminine to the feminine.

Thanks to Amy Poehler and her fabulous character, Leslie Knope of Parks & Recreation, back in 2010 she cast the mold and celebrated her gal pals on February 13…voilá Galentine’s was born. Hard to believe that 12 years later, I am only now hearing about it and thinking what a great idea.

No more broken hearts or dashed hopes; no more waiting around to give that male a hint. Now we can open the doors to better communication and expectation. After all, we, the “feminine” (for the most part) are better communicators, of feelings. And feelings are what should be celebrated in a day reserved for love.

Feelings of friendship, feelings of companionship, feelings of admiration, feelings of togetherness, feelings of understanding, feelings of support, feelings of compassion, and feelings of love.

Happy Galentine’s Day!!!
