When To Change The Subject

“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.” -Winston Churchill

How I wish I could run this quote every hour on the hour on cable news shows and social media during 2024…Today’s society has become intolerant, one-note (as in my note or no one else’s), self-centered, and devoid of factual reasoning.

At one time or another, we've all been guilty of obsessing over something that perhaps mattered only to us. Your boss is an idiot, why just today he/she ... Your yoga teacher got sick and YOU showed up for the class! Whole Foods was out of your favorite juice… Life is complicated and demanding and well, sometimes it just GETS to you and you need to vent. Today though, that venting is better done alone and at home. Please don’t complain about everything to everyone and don’t post it on social media…save that energy for the really meaningful things.

We sit amazed by those who rant and rave over things that are important to them, without ever considering that at times we might just be doing the same. Stop a moment to reflect on this, lately I have had to really hold back.  And as I often quote: “People can’t wait to tell you about their religion, but they sure do not want to hear about yours.”

Another thought we might consider is why we have two ears and only one mouth.

Just saying…
