The essential element of creating a great party is one: giving.

When you make your intention of being a host, of giving, all sorts of magic things happen.

Number one you open your heart to the act of giving and nurturing. Because if you don’t do this, why throw a party? It has always made me sad when I hear people complaining about giving a party…why give it at all if it does not bring you joy, and if you truly don’t want to give?

The mindset of giving a party should be filled with joy, imagination and the determination of working hard to make all elements of the party sing in harmony.

Thinking of who the guests are, what would they like? Should the party have a theme, what are you inspired by now? Is it simple or elaborate? Can you pull it off on your own, or will you need help? Use you sense of creativity to build the framework for the party.

Take time in the details. The food can be simple, but what about you could make the dishes unique? Flowers; again think: should they represent the season, the theme of the party or perhaps a region of the world? The music, nowadays you can create amazing playlists that complement the theme and set the mood.

Maybe at your party you will orchestrate new friendships amongst your friends and become the instigator of wonderful new alliances and connections. How powerful is that?
