Jessica Jesse's Spin on Fall Fashion
I receive WWD (Women’s Wear Daily, the trade publication for fashion) everyday. WWD keeps abreast of what is going on in the fashion industry, anything from the price of cotton to the hottest new designers.
Of course during fashion weeks in NY, London, Milan, Paris, WWD is ever present bringing back what is best on the runways. The past few seasons I thought I had lost my ability to recognize patterns, as in trends. Well for this fall it was no better. I couldn’t recognize anything really proprietary to this season. As the wonderful Natalie Joos says, "I hate trends." Natalie believes personal style should dictate what you choose and what you wear.
Nowadays, one can observe that pretty much anything goes in fashion. Individuality is heralded (can be a good or bad thing) no matter if it is aesthetically pleasing. Designers got that message loud and clear. Why have a consensus amongst your peers when it really is unimportant?
Having said all this, I will point out three things that I believe relevant for this season:
Burgundy. Always good. People look great in this color.
Leopard print. This is not new. It is like black, once in, it never left.
Digital prints. Technology now allows designers to incorporate this technique. More and more designers are adding this to their collections.
Pick-up one or all three of these “trends” and your wardrobe will instantly be updated for fall. Of course don’t forget your BuDhaGirl jewelry, so that everyday is filled with fashion and intention.
Hugs
Jessica
