Hello, BuDhaKitty

Not long ago, a transcendent creature arrived on BuDhaGirl's doorstep. Fred the Cat, or BuDhaKitty, is an oracle of sorts. His presence teaches us about the importance of mindfulness and being present.

BuDhaGirl: How did you come into your current living situation?

BuDhaKitty: Well, let's see. I am a feral cat. I wasn't born into poshness... so you have to work with what you have. And I have smarts. I took one look at this lady, I think she is known as BuDhaGirl, and said to myself: "Self, this is it. Hang around, look cute, and show her my Paul Newman eyes."

BDG: We see that you're magnetically drawn to Buddha. Why do the teachings of Buddha resonate with you?

BDK: I think Buddha became a beggar. He and I have a lot in common that way. We have learned to depend on the kindness of people and accept the gifts that are offered to us.

BDG: Why is mindfulness important to you?

BDK: I don't know what you are asking me. I am a creature that takes each moment of life as it comes and live it for what it is. Is this mindfulness?

BDG: How do you find balance and peace in your life?

I eat. I sleep. I groom. I look up at the sky. I see the flowers bloom. I hide from scary noises. I try to stay dry. I look up at the shiny lights in the sky at night.

BDG: What is your favorite piece of BuDhaGirl jewelry?

BDK: Those shiny things that the lady (BuDhaGIrl) wears when she feeds me, you know, on her wrist. Geesh... she always has them on. They don't make noise. They don't scare me. Sometimes they are silver and sometimes they are gold, and she wears lots of them.

BDG: What are your daily intentions?

BDK: To be.

BDG: What is your source of inspiration?

BDK: Everything around me makes me be me.

BDG: Your personal hashtag #BuDhaKitty is sure to become a viral success. How do you plan on using your celebrity status for good?

BDK: Is hashtag a type of food? Or is it that thing that people put into the flat things in their hands which pull them away from seeing each other, looking at the sky, just sitting around looking at stuff (you know, that's what cats do and it's wonderful), from just being, from being kind. All I want is to see people smile.

BDG: What are some words of wisdom you'd like to share with BuDhaGIrls?

BDK: Meow. Love. Be kind. Love. Be gentle. Love. Be you . Love. Just BE.
