BDG Team: Elizabeth on Beauty

When given the opportunity to share with you what beauty meant to me, I had a hard time narrowing down the millions of experiences, places, memories, people, and things that came to mind. It’s easy to overlook what's just in front of your eyes and get caught up in the beauty of materialistic things… but sometimes we need a little reminder of what real beauty is.

The simple things in life are often the most beautiful. I frequently catch myself pondering how unique and beautiful each living creature was made. Make time each day to find beauty in daily occurrences such as the changing of seasons, a thunderstorm, or a sunset.

Good company, laughter, and family radiate beauty… something we often take for granted. Enjoy each day to the fullest, work hard and laugh often.

This picture is a constant reminder of where beauty begins. Beauty is not based on where you were born, what your race is, what gender you identify with, or what religion you practice. Beauty starts on the inside and shines outwards.

Beauty is love. Love yourself, love life, and love those around you. Remind those around you how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate them. By loving something or someone, you're able to recognize their unique beauty.

Last but not least, surround yourself with adventure and new experiences. With an open mind and a desire to travel, you might find that the most beautiful places and faces are those that are completely unfamiliar to you now.

“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet, he said.”
